About Our Retreats
All retreats at Dzogchen Meditation Center engage the view and practice of the Nyingma and Kagyu Schools of Tibetan Buddhsm. We follow the main practice guidelines and oral instructions of the Vidyadhara Trungpa Rinpoche. We emphasize the practice of Shamatha/Vipashyana at all stages of the practitioner's path and engage the tantric practices of the the Kagyu and Nyingma Lineages. We offer retreats which are designed to help practitioners complete the tantric path of the Karma Kamstang -- the Kagyu Ngondro, Vajrayogini and Chakrasamvara Sadhanas along with the Mahamudra teachings and the six dharmas of Naropa.
In particular we offer long and short-term residential training -- from weekend programs, 10 day retreats, month-long dathuns, and three month seminaries. The residential component is our main focus and recreates the training environment developed by Vidyadhara Trungpa Rinpoche for his students.
Our emphasis is always to keep our retreats affordable and work/study and scholarships are available for students who cannot afford the advertised price. Please ask us for financial help.
Practitioners of all levels are welcome to join the staff on work/study basis for three month periods on a first come first served basis. Residents and staff spend five to seven hours a day practicing meditation. This is a great way to enter fully into daily training in meditation however one should be aware that this is a fairly rigorous training schedule. It can be quite difficult for new practitioners.
